Saturday of Big Weekend is always the UK’s first urban race on the calendar. The longer urban courses provide some great routechoice as well as requiring concentration throughout the whole course to prevent costly mistakes.
The 2020 city race was held in Pollock Halls, a part of town that hasn’t been used for the Big Weekend before.
The area provided complex university campus style orienteering. Longer courses ventured further into the city, reaching another area of complex orienteering in the Astley Ainsley hospital. The area bordered the WOC 2022 embargo, providing the perfect opportunity to get a feel for the terrain that will decide who the best urban orienteer’s are in the 2022 world champs.
